Martin

Every week fantasy owners have tough decisions to make. Whether it is who to start in their FLEX spot or if they should start a less quality player against a weaker defense. This week Breaking Football is changing things up. I will be giving my fantasy followers my solo rankings based on PPR scoring. As an added bonus this week I will explain my favorite match up for each position. If you have more specific questions regarding fantasy football and my rankings, ask me on Twitter (@MikeSports22) and as always happy hunting fantasy friends.

My Favorite Quarterback Matchup

Deshaun Watson vs Colts: How can you not like Watson? Great young man, likely Offensive Rookie of the Year winner and the top scoring fantasy quarterback this season despite not starting in week one. Last week in Seattle, Watson put up his third 32+ fantasy point game. This week Watson takes on the Colts who gave up 18.7 fantasy points last week to Andy Dalton and give up an average of 19.1 on the season. Watson has earned the right to be labeled a “set and forget” fantasy player. Start Watson every week going forward.

My Favorite Running Back Matchup

Doug Martin at Saints: Since returning from his three game suspension, Martin has been consistent for fantasy owners. In four games this season Martin is averaging 17.5 touches, 75.3 scrimmage yards, 0.5 touchdowns and 12.3 fantasy points per game. This week he faces a Saints defense that ranks 25th in the league against opposing running backs, giving up an average of 25.2 fantasy points per game. With Jameis Winston dealing with a shoulder injury look for the Buccaneers to run the ball more this week in order to protect Winston and keep the Saints offense off the field.

49 John Brown Cardinals at 49ers
50 Paul Richardson Seahawks vs Redskins

My Favorite Wide Receiver Matchup

Tyreek Hill at Cowboys: Usually when players have crazy home/road splits the player plays better at home. However, for Hill that is not the case. In four home games Hill is averaging 7.2 fantasy points per game but in four road games Hill is averaging 22.2 fantasy points per game. Hill is on the road this week and faces the Cowboys secondary that ranks 28th against opposing wide receivers giving up 36.8 fantasy points per game. Hill has scored a touchdown in each road game this season and should be good for at least one this week as the Cowboys have given up nine touchdowns to wide receivers this season.

Tight Ends
Rank Name Team Opponent
1 Zach Ertz Eagles vs Broncos
2 Travis Kelce Chiefs at Cowboys
3 Jimmy Graham Seahawks vs Redskins
4 Evan Engram Giants vs Rams

11 Austin Seferian-Jenkins Jets vs Bills
12 Vernon Davis Redskins at Seahawks
13 Austin Hooper Falcons at Panthers
14 Benjamin Watson Ravens at Titans
15 Ryan Griffin Texans vs Colts
16 George Kittle 49ers vs Cardinals
17 Ed Dickson Panthers vs Falcons
18 Coby Fleener Saints vs Buccaneers
19 Tyler Higbee Rams at Giants
20 O.J. Howard Buccaneers at Saints

My Favorite Tight End Matchup

Jimmy Graham at Redskins: Last week against the Texans Graham scored 19.9 fantasy points in large part thanks to his two touchdowns. Over his last three games Graham is averaging 16.6 fantasy points per game and has scored four touchdowns. On the season, the Redskins have given up an average of 16.6 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, ranking 29th in the league. Furthermore, the Redskins have given up 19 or more fantasy points to opposing tight ends in three games this season. Graham is a top three play this week with so many good tight ends on a bye.

D/STs
Rank Team Opponent
1 Jaguars vs Bengals
2 Eagles vs Broncos
3 Texans vs Colts
4 Cardinals at 49ers
5 Rams at Giants
6 Seahawks vs Redskins
7 Lions at Packers
8 Bills at Jets
9 49ers vs Cardinals
10 Ravens at Titans
11 Saints vs Buccaneers
12 Titans vs Ravens
13 Broncos at Eagles
14 Panthers vs Falcons
15 Bengals at Jaguars

My Favorite Defense/Special Teams Matchup

Rams at Giants: The Rams D/ST are the third highest scoring D/ST this season, averaging 11.4 fantasy points per game. The Rams D/ST has scored 10 or more fantasy points in three games this season. This week they face a Giants offense that has allowed opposing D/STs to score eight or more fantasy points in five of seven games this season. The Rams have 23 sacks on the season while the Giants offensive line has been one of the worst in the league. The Rams should get plenty of pressure on Eli Manning this week, leading to sacks and turnovers.

Kickers
Rank Name Team Opponent
1 Ryan Succop Titans vs Ravens
2 Greg Zuerlein Rams at Giants
3 Jake Elliott Eagles vs Broncos
4 Matt Bryant Falcons at Panthers
5 Justin Tucker Ravens at Titans
6 Wil Lutz Saints vs Buccaneers
7 Harrison Butker Chiefs at Cowboys
8 Steven Hauschka Bills at Jets
9 Robbie Gould 49ers vs Cardinals
10 Ka’imi Fairbairn Texans vs Colts
11 Graham Gano Panthers vs Falcons
12 Josh Lambo Jaguars vs Bengals

My Favorite Kicker Matchup

Ryan Succop vs Ravens: Not many fantasy owners would believe me if I told you that Succop is the second highest scoring Titan behind Marcus Mariota in terms of fantasy points scored per game. Furthermore, Succop is the second highest scoring kicker based on points per game, averaging 12 per contest. Succop has scored double-digit fantasy points in five of seven games this week and is averaging 17.5 fantasy points per game over his last two games. Opposing kickers are scoring an average of 11 fantasy points per game when facing the Ravens over the past three weeks.
