First off….I’d like to thank Roddy White for making me look bad in last week’s article. The one week I tell you to sit him, he finally has a huge game. However, I will point out that I WAS right about Julius Thomas’ output. But again, how do you sit the guy.
Anyways, let’s get to your week 8 start/sit calls (Giants and 49ers on a bye):
QB, Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins
Coming of a win in Chicago where he managed the game extremely well. Miami has some momentum and sees another win in sight against Jacksonville. Could be a nice fill in for a week when 49ers QB COlin Kaepernick is on a bye.
RB, Tre Mason, St. Louis Rams
The Rams have given up on Zac Stacy and Mason came in and got the bulk of the carries. Kansas City has played well as of late but Mason seems hungry and ready to seize his opportunity from an admiring head coach in Jeff Fisher.
WR, Jordan Matthews, Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are going to need production out of the slot to beat the Cardinals. No way a linebacker can stay with this guy down the seam. Arizona’s corners are pretty good so Maclin and Cooper should have limited targets. Matthews could be a steal this week
TE, Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs
This is strictly a gut call. The Rams are riding high after beating the Seahawks. I have a feeling that Kelce is going to be a security blanket for Alex Smith in this one.
D/ST, Miami Dolphins
Again….a nice effort against Chicago and they’re playing Jacksonville. Pick ’em up off waivers.
QB, Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
I really feel for Cam. Last week against Green Bay proved just how little help he has on offense. Aside from Olson and Benjamin, he’s on his own. Seattle poses too much of an obstacle; especially after losing two in a row.
RB, LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles
First, Arizona is pretty good up front against the run. Second, I know McCoy is getting on your nerves for a lack of production. Do yourself a favor, sit him. Or at least put him in your flex. Phili won’t have a ton on the ground.
WR, Brandon Marshall, Chicago Bears
Cutler is in a huge funk right now. Strike One. You don’t get out of a funk playing on the road at New England. Strike two. Revis Island! Strike three. Gotta sit ’em. I am!
TE, Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers
Denver knows they have to key on and stop this guy. It’s no secret. They have the linebackers to do it. Gates is a non-factor this week.
D/ST, Carolina Panthers
The Panthers get to slide into this spot for the second straight week because Russel Wilson and the ‘hawks are “ANGRY BIRDS!”
