Some guys should be given up on in fantasy football. It’s hard to do, but think about it, we are now going into week eight. This is the mid-point of the season and if guys you spent first or second round picks on still haven’t paid off, it’s fairly likely they never will.
Roddy White isn’t what you thought he was going to be. Victor Cruz hasn’t even played yet. DeSean Jackson doesn’t have a catch. Andre Johnson has been a total spare. C.J. Anderson has been stuck in mud. C.J. Spiller has been a total dud. And Peyton Manning looks, well, toast.
This is really just scratching the surface, too. There is so much maddening disappointment, it’s not even funny.
But that’s not the case with everyone. Marshawn Lynch, for example, has thwarted off injury and a slow start and is creeping back up to elite status. It took several weeks, but you hung in there and now Beast Mode is alive and well. We know this because he’s now scored a touchdown in back-to-back games and last week dropped a 122-yard day on the 49ers on the road.
Beast Mode is back, and this week he gets a Cowboys defense that can’t stop running backs from accruing fantasy points. More specifically, Dallas is giving up over 24 fantasy points to running backs on the year – good for 30th place. They’ve actually been somewhat stingy when it comes to true rushing yardage (under 600), but they’re giving up production in the passing game as well, plus 8 total scores to the position. They’re also reeling with four straight losses and thanks to Seattle’s physical style on both sides of the ball, there’s little reason to doubt Lynch will take advantage of the situation in week eight.
Lynch is just one guy that I like this week, though. Filter through my fantasy player rankings and check my notes to help you prepare for week 8:
