Another crazy week in the NFL. Parody has made teams very hard to judge week to week. There are no longer any undefeated teams and it’s only Week 5. However, their are two winless teams. many teams made big jumps this week, while others plummeted. We have a new No. 1 this week and they most certainly have earned the top spot:
1. San Diego Chargers
The Chargers dominated the Jets in every facet of the game, shockingly that includes the rushing game as well. Philip Rivers may be the MVP and San Diego has a win over the Seahawks under their belt this season. They needed to really embarrass the Jets to get the top spot and did they ever!
2. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks got a road win on Monday Night Football. The Redskins aren’t great but it’s still a nice win on the road, where the Seahawks do at time struggle. A win next week against Dallas could be the jolt they need to jump the Bolts.
3. Denver Broncos
Denver had the most impressive win of the top three teams this week based on competition. Still a loss to Seattle and the Chargers just rolling teams is holding them back.
4. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals suffered a tough loss on Sunday night to the Pats. There is no need to panic after just one loss. Nonetheless, they need to figure out a way to start winning prime time games. They continue to fall short. This game may have just been a case of wrong place, wrong time against this Patriots’ team.
5. Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals stayed put this week after suffering their first loss of the season. There is little shame in losing in Denver with Peyton Manning coming off a bye week. They really need to get there QB situation situated very quickly though. It’s very impressive they are 3-1 without Carson Palmer.
6. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles won another shootout this week with the Rams. They are good at what they do, but they better improve on defense if they want to win a suddenly tough NFC East.
7. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys are one of the biggest surprises of the season so far. They have looked very good over the past few weeks. In an unexpected turn of events, they have been led by defense and a dominant rushing attack. It’s still very hard to trust them.
8. Detroit Lions
We still like the Lions, but that was a really bad loss to the Bills. The absence of just about all their offensive weapons gets them a little bit of a pass. They will have to figure out ways to win without Megatron for at least a week or two. No more excuses.
9. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts beat the Ravens and jumped up the rankings. It was a really huge win for this team. They do not look great, but could make a deep playoff run in the AFC. Andrew Luck really has a lot on his shoulders though.
10. Green Bay Packers
The Packers really crushed the Vikings and look to be back on track after a slow start. Christian Ponder’s incompetence really helped them. Next week they have a nice measuring stick match against a middle of the pack Dolphins team.
11. Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore lost a big game verse Indy on Sunday. That was going to be a statement win for one of those teams. Unfortunately, the Colts made the statement.
12. San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers won a tough one against the Chiefs on Sunday. They are not as good as they’ve been in recent years, but still a very solid team.
13. Carolina Panthers
Carolina earned a much needed win against the Bears this week. Cam Newton is beginning to look healthier and the offense is getting on track. They have major upside if they can get everything clicking. They have talent on both sides of the ball.
14. New York Giants
The Giants have run off three straight wins in impressive fashion. They keep winning and continuing to climb the rankings. They have a big test in Philly next week.
15. New England Patriots
After an awful loss to the Chiefs, the Pats came out on Sunday night and dismantled the undefeated Bengals. It is really hard to get a good read on this team. Our guess is they are a lot more like the team that beat the Bengals, than the team that got crushed by the Chiefs.
16. Houston Texans
The Texans QB will continue to hold them down. They are very competitive, however, it’s hard to consider them real contenders. Their game against the Colts Thursday night could go a long way to changing that. Or solidifying it.
17. Buffalo Bills
The Bills pulled off a huge win against a short-handed Lions team. A handful of mistakes and missed field goals kept Buffalo in the game and they capitalized for the win.
18. Miami Dolphins
The bye week was not kind to the Dolphins. Miami rested up after their game in London. They have a tough game next week against the Packers.
19. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers tough win against the Jags may have hurt their ranking almost as much as it helped them.
20. Chicago Bears
This is what the Bears have become over the past few seasons. Not very good. Jay Cutler turns the ball over too much and the defense is bad. They are inconsistent with flashes of greatness. We don’t see that changing anytime soon.
21. Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs lost a tough one against the 49ers this week. They were right there and just couldn’t get it done.
22. Atlanta Falcons
This team just flat out can’t win on the road. They need to figure out that issue quickly.
23. Cleveland Browns
The Browns completed an epic comeback against the Titans to get back to .500. The issue is, why were they down so much to the Titans in the first place?
24. New Orleans Saints
The Saints earned a very unimpressive win against a bad Bucs team. A win is a win, but we are unimpressed.
25. Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings got trounced on Thursday night by the Packers. Things just really snowballed on them. When Ponder is your QB that will happen. Luckily for them Teddy Bridgewater should be back for next week’s game.
26. St. Louis Rams
The Rams offense looked good against Philly. Then again, every offense looks good against Philly. Their defense has been nothing shy of disappointing.
27. Washington Redskins
The Redskins looked much better this week against the Seahawks. They played well and although they lost, looked like a respectable NFL team.
28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs fought hard. It still resulted in a loss at home to the reeling New Orleans Saints.
29. Tennessee Titans
The Titans almost had a huge win verse Cleveland, perhaps a season saving win. Instead they suffered an epic collapse.
30. New York Jets
Well that was embarrassing. The Jets traveled to San Diego this weekend, and what ensued was the beating of a lifetime. The Jets became the first team to be shutout this season, benched their starting QB and found out not only can he not throw footballs, he can’t tell time either.
31. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jags didn’t play bad at all against the Steelers, they still couldn’t get the W. They could have climbed up a spot if a few bounces went their way.
32. Oakland Raiders
The Raiders hope to build off their best week of the season. They fired Dennis Allen during the bye week.
