The defending Super Bowl champs haven’t necessarily been dethroned, and if you ask Richard Sherman, they haven’t even been “exposed”. They have, however, already experienced their first loss of the 2014 NFL season. Naturally, with the 2014 NFL Power Rankings gauging the weekly momentum of each team, they have to take a fall. How far and who takes their spot up top? Let’s find out:

1. Denver Broncos
Record: 2-0
The Broncos high-powered offense continues to tear through opposing defenses. As the defending AFC champions, they narrowly own the top spot.

2. Carolina Panthers
Record: 2-0
Their defense shut down one of the most dangerous offenses in the league. Cam Newton is healthy and looks good. They are going to be tough to beat in the NFC.

3. Cincinnati Bengals
Record: 2-0
Yes they have struggled in the playoffs, but those questions can’t be answered for 15 more weeks. They are one of the three best teams in the AFC.

4. Philadelphia Eagles
Record: 2-0
The Eagles had an impressive comeback against Andrew Luck and the Colts on Monday night. They are clearly the class of the NFC East.

5. Seattle Seahawks
Record: 1-1
There is no shame in losing in San Diego to a tough Chargers team, however the Seahawks need to get better on the road. They are close to unbeatable at home but are vulnerable when they travel. Nonetheless, they’re still the champs.

6. Arizona Cardinals
Record: 2-0
The Cardinals are 2-0, and despite injuries and suspensions appear to be dominant on defense again.

7. Buffalo Bills
Record: 2-0
The Bills are undefeated. It’s hard to believe they will be in the top 10 for long, but for now this is where they belong after back-to-back impressive wins.

8. New England Patriots
Record: 1-1
The Patriots bounced back how we all pretty much figured they would. By scoring 30 straight points in a 30-7 rout of the Vikings.

9. Green Bay Packers
Record: 1-1
Yes the Packers have a loss and struggled to beat the Jets, but everyone loses in Seattle and a win is a win. This offense is going to be tough to keep up with.

10. San Diego Chargers
Record: 1-1
San Diego sent a strong message by upsetting the reigning Super Bowl champs.

11. Houston Texans
Record: 2-0
The Texans are undefeated. They haven’t exactly beat any great teams, but they don’t make the schedule.

12. Baltimore Ravens
Record: 1-1
The Ravens defense may be much better than anticipated. They looked very good against the Steelers on Thursday. They will not be given credit for anything they did against the Steelers D however. They’re one ridiculous A.J. Green TD away from being 2-0.

13. Chicago Bears
Record: 1-1
The Bears put forth a gutsy performance on Sunday night. They battled back from 17 down with two injured stars and pulled out the win.

14. San Francisco 49ers
Record: 1-1
The loss to the Bears was more alarming than the win against the Cowboys was impressive.

15. Detroit Lions
Record: 1-1
The Lions really got beat up by the Panthers. They still have one of the best offenses in the NFL and a ferocious front seven. The Panthers may just be that good.

16. Atlanta Falcons
Record: 1-1
The Falcons couldn’t pull off a win this week. In fairness they have faced two preseason favorites to win their divisions.

17. Miami Dolphins
Record: 1-1
As great as they looked against the Patriots, is as bad as they looked against the Bills. Special teams was a nightmare and the offensive line wasn’t much better.

18. New York Jets
Record: 1-1
The loss to the Packers was more impressive than the win against the Raiders.

19. Washington Redskins
Record: 1-1
The Redskins lost their starting QB. The jury is still out if that’s a good or bad thing.

20. Dallas Cowboys
Record: 1-1
After looking awful Week 1, they looked much better against the Titans in Week 2. We’ll have to see more before they rise in to the teens.

21. St Louis Rams
Record: 1-1
The Rams looked terrible Week 1. They bounced back nicely in Week 2. It looks like they weathered the storm without Shaun Hill. We’ll see if the defense can keep them competitive.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers
Record: 1-1
The Steelers have looked awful over the last six quarters. This may be one of the worst defenses the Steelers have put on the field in recent memory.

23. Cleveland Browns
Record: 1-1
They beat the Saints. Didn’t see that coming. The offense has been much better than expected to this point.

24. Tennessee Titans
Record: 1-1
Everybody was loving the Titans offense after Week 1. Seems like a long time ago now.

25. Indianapolis Colts
Record: 0-2
The Colts are better than 25th. They’ve had two tough matchups so far. Luck has not been able to work his fourth quarter magic. While we believe they are much better than their record shows, they’re one loss away from disaster.

26. New Orleans Saints
Record: 0-2
You are what your record says you are!

27. Minnesota Vikings
Record: 1-1
Was the Vikings Week 1 blowout a fluke? Yes, yes it was.

28. Kansas City Chiefs
Record: 0-2
Yea, the Chiefs held their own against the Broncos but we’re beginning to see what most people already knew. Last year was a fluke helped by a slew of fortunate events.

29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Record: 0-2
The Bucs just can’t seem to find a way to win games. Losing to Austin Davis is inexcusable for a team that wants to contend for the playoffs.

30. Jacksonville Jaguars
Record: 0-2
The Jags looked like they had potential in Week 1. They looked like the Jags in Week 2.

31. New York Giants
Record: 0-2
This is a very bad football team. Their defense isn’t great and their offense is competing with the Rams offense for being the worst in the league.

32. Oakland Raiders
Record: 0-2
Surprisingly to no one, the Raiders were blown out this week. Don’t expect to see them climbing in the rankings anytime soon.
