The parody in the NFL is what makes it so great. It is truly unpredictable week to week. Raise your hand if you had Buffalo sitting atop the AFC East at 2-0 after two games. Who saw San Diego giving Seattle more than they could handle in week 2? So what could possibly be in store for week 3……Jacksonville beating Indianapolis?

Let’s do our best to weed out some good matchups for week 3:

START

Kirk Cousins, QB, Washington Redskins

The debate has been raging in Washington about who should start at QB between RG3 and Cousins. When RG3 went down last week, Cousins filled in beautifully and I’m buying in. I’d start him over a struggling Colin Kaepernick this week. The controversy only gets deeper after this week as Cousins should have a nice game against Philadelphia.

Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints

Thomas has been a 3rd down role guy in the Saints’ offense; mainly getting PPR points cathcing out of the backfield. Now that Mark Ingram is hurt, and the Saints needing a win, Thomas should have a bigger role in the offense and should have a ton more touches. He goes from a FLEX play to a mid RB2 this week at home against Minnesota.

Mohammed Sanu, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

I’m doubting AJ Green’s status this week since the Bengals have a week 4 bye. I’d bet the Bengals sit Green and get him a full two weeks of healing. That means Sanu’s targets skyrocket. He filled in nicely in week 2 when Green went down.

Martellus Bennett, TE, Chicago Bears

Bennett has started the year on fire for the Bears. He just demands the ball and Cutler is finding him. He’s been a monster for the Bears on third down and in the redzone. You have to ride him!

Houston Texans, D/ST

If nobody has them by now go get them! They are playing fantastic defense and have the hapless Giants this week. Eli will throw a pick or two and will be sacked. Huge day for Houston’s D!

SIT

Colin Kaepernick, QB, San Francisco

Just a meltdown last week against the Bears. Arizona’s defense is no pushover and I’d expect them to get after Kaepernick at home.

Montee Ball, RB, Denver Broncos

I am aware of what San Diego did against Seattle last week but the Seahawks are back at home and have the 12th man on their side. I’d expect the Seahawks to want to prove that they are still tops in the league. Ball should have a tough time.

Michael Crabtree, WR, San Francisco

Had a score last week but Arizona has a tough defense and I’m not trusting Kaepernick either. Probably more reliable options out there.

San Francisco, D/ST

I hate to keep picking on the 49ers but I just have that feeling that they’re in a funk right now. Arizona has some momentum and head coach Bruce Arians is capable of coming up with creative ways to beat the San Fran defense.
