The Buffalo Bills shocked the league when they cut Fred Jackson just a week prior to the start of the season. Seattle wasted no time and swooped in and signed the oldest running back in the league. Despite his age, he can still be an effective player.
Entering week 3, the Seahawks may be without “Beast Mode” as he is labeled as a game-time decision. Marshawn Lynch hasn’t gotten off to the start the Seahawks or fantasy owners had hoped for, which may be a good sign for Jackson. If Lynch continues to show a decline in production, that may open the door for Jackson.
With Lynch nursing a calf injury, that will be good enough reason for the Seahawks to put more weight on the shoulder of Jackson. While he has garnered only 6 touches through the first two weeks, look for Jackson to receive a much larger role this upcoming week as the Seahawks are set to play against an abysmal Bears team. Jackson is a powerful runner and an even better receiver out of the backfield as he went for a career high 66 catches last season.
All the variables are in place for Jackson to produce as a fantasy football sleeper in week 3. He will likely be given a bigger workload due to Lynch’s slow start and injury. He faces a favorable matchup against a weak Chicago defense. He is as versatile as they come and will especially be a factor in the passing game.
