Johnny Manziel may or may not lead the Cleveland Browns to the NFL playoffs this year. But if he gets the chance to go one way or the other in real life, he very well could be the deciding factor in your own playoff run in your fantasy football league. There’s really only one way to find out.

I’m a Johnny Football fan/believer. I’m willing to ride and die with the electrifying rookie, and it’s largely because just about every snap he takes leaves endless possibilities on the table. That, and the fact that he put up solid points in just one quarter of play in his first meaningful pro action.

Brian Hoyer has gotten the Browns to 7-5 by being pedestrian and predictable. Cleveland could actually make the playoffs thanks to Manziel’s superior talent and upside. No, Hoyer isn’t going to flash the “money fingers” to everyone after he scores a touchdown. But Hoyer was never going to run for a 10-yard scamper, either. He also sucked in his last five games.

Manziel needs to be Cleveland’s guy come week 14, and if he is, you should be excited to call him your starting fantasy quarterback. He’ll face a Colts defense that is beatable even when healthy (Colt McCoy put up quality numbers against them), while they’re downright pathetic without stud corner Vontae Davis (just ask Ben Roethlisberger). If Davis is in, Manziel will be a solid QB2 with considerable upside. If he’s out, he could be a legit QB1 in his first pro start.

I’m taking the ambitious angle either way, as Manziel offers all the good stuff Tim Tebow used to, yet is a vastly superior passer it every regard. He also has Josh Gordon and possibly Jordan Cameron. Expect fireworks. For everyone else not named Johnny Manziel, it’s on to the week 14 fantasy football rankings:
