Sterling Shepard went down on Wednesday at practice, Jordan Raanan reported he was in tears on the sideline.

Shepard is a big key to the Giants offense playing in the slot. As a rookie he tallied 65 reception for 683 yards and 8 touchdowns and showed he would be a force in the slot for years to come. This injury has Giant fans holding their breath after the release of Victor Cruz in the offseason. No one actually saw what happened to him, but anytime a player goes down it’s a scare, especially when it’s a guy that you expect a lot out of.

If this injury turns out to be serious, the Giants would need Tavarres King, Darius Powe, Roger Lewis or Dwayne Harris to step up. If the Giants lose Shepard for a crucial amount of time look for the Giants to mix up the formations even more. After the injury, King moved to #3 WR and Odell saw some snaps in the slot. Coach McAdoo in his press conference said Shepard had a bad ankle role and the cart was just precaution. Called it a, “basketball type” of ankle injury.

Another Giant went down at camp on Wednesday, Jessamen Dunker UDFA guard out of Tennessee State. A 6’4”/318 big body, Dunker had an outside shot at making the Giants 53 man roster as they are desperate for offensive line depth. Dunker was carted off the field and the severity of the injury is unknown at this time.
