Jadeveon Clowney was the number one overall pick in last year’s NFL Draft, bringing a lot of hope to the Houston Texans’ defense. However, an injury-plagued rookie season has a lot of people doubting a successful career.
In the midst of all the negativity surrounding Clowney, the Texans remain optimistic on his future. They still have the same hope they carried for him when they first drafted him. The Texans’ GM Rick Smith said in a statement that Clowney “can be a very impactful player” and can still reach his full potential in the NFL.
Both Smith and the head coach, Bill O’Brien, have stated that Clowney has been doing very well in his recovery. After having surgery in early December on his injured knee, there is no doubt that it will take some time before he is 100%. The team, however, has a lot of optimism that he will be ready for Week 1.
