The week eight Thursday Night Football matchup is very interesting tonight. The Miami Dolphins have been ludicrously dominant over the last two weeks, but that has been while playing bottom of the league teams. Tonight the Dolphins face the toughest test the NFL has: a game against the Patriots, in New England, in prime time! There are a few players who I think will have significant fantasy impacts tonight, you are going to want to make sure they are in your lineup:
Ryan Tannehill, QB, Dolphins
Tannehill looked like one of the best quarterbacks in the league last week. He set the NFL record for consecutive completions and had a perfect passer rating. I think you have to continue riding his hot hand and start Tannehill again this week. Tannehill is definitely a top 10 fantasy quarterback this week, if you’ve got one of the top 5 guys (Brady, Rivers, Rodgers, Dalton, Roethlisberger) start them, but otherwise you can feel confident rolling with Tannehill.
Lamar Miller, RB, Dolphins
The Patriots have been pretty good this season at limiting opposing running backs fantasy production. But that is largely because of them scoring so many points that teams feel obligated to throw a lot to keep up. If you also look at the Patriots season you will notice that for such a dominate team they certainly do play a lot of close games. I think the Dolphins play tight and smart tonight and get their run game going early and often. Don’t expect Miller to put up stats similar to last week, but he should still be productive enough to have in your lineup.
Jarvis Landry, WR, Dolphins
Landry has been the only Dolphin that has been truly competitive every week of the season. His attitude has definitely rubbed off on the rest of the team as we have seen a reinvigorated squad over the last two weeks. Landry has three touchdowns over the last two weeks, and has shown that he can put up a big game against teams with strong secondary’s. I don’t believe the Patriots super bowl hero Malcolm Butler has what it takes to stifle Landry’s game.
Tom Brady, QB, Patriots
Brady is the top fantasy scorer this season, and is an obvious must start. I have him ranked as the top quarterback coming into this week. If you have him on your team I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you to start him.
Rob Gronkowski, TE, Patriots
Another obvious starter, but just so you know I think Gronkowski will be the top fantasy scorer in this game. Edelman has looked a little lackluster the last two weeks since he hurt his finger, and the Dolphins are just brutally unequipped to try and cover Gronk. I expect him to be the top tight end this week, and could possibly eek out the top fantasy performance all week.
Danny Amendola, WR, Patriots
I like Amendola over Edelman tonight. That may be an unpopular opinion but I’d be willing to roll the dice on it. Edelman has looked down the last two weeks, while Amendola has been trending up. Opposing defenses haven’t adjusted over to putting their best DB on Amendola, and until defenses at least start considering that, Brady is going to make the intelligent play and find Amendola.
Who would you like to start tonight? Was it anyone I failed to mention? Let us know in the comments!
