The New England Patriots hinted all off season that they would take it slow with Rob Gronkowski and his knee rehabilitation. They wanted to limit his snaps, from week to week to ensure a smooth recovery; and that is exactly what they have done.
We know what sort of fantasy football player Gronkowski can be when healthy on the field; that is Jimmy Graham-esque, if not better. He has shown glimpses of it so far this year, catching a touchdown in two of the team’s first three games, totaling 11 receptions for 116 yard over that same span.
In the Patriot’s Week 3 game against Oakland, Gronk played a season high in snaps, 44, or 57.5%. The All-Pro tight end said that he “doesn’t feel limited at all.” Also, “It’s just progressing every week but it’s getting to the point where we can start rolling more and more.” Clearly Gronk is extremely anxious to get back on the field without limits.
The Patriots have done an excellent job making sure there have been no setbacks and Gronk will be back in elite form sooner rather than later. When he returns he will be in a tight end class exclusive to himself and Mr. Graham.
