This weekend’s action is almost upon us. And I’m here for all you folks looking to put up the best possible guys in either DFS leagues, or in standard format leagues. So without further ado, here is who I think will be the best player at EVERY position this weekend (and Monday).
Andrew Luck, QB, Indianapolis Colts
I may be going out on a limb here, especially after Luck’s brutal performance on Monday night last week. But Luck has always been an up and down quarterback. It comes with the territory when the rest of your team is so reliant on you to win games. But the Colts have an easy match up this week, against a Titans team that made Johnny Manziel look like a pro-bowl quarterback. Starting the season 0-2 will definitely put a chip on Luck, and the rest of the Colts shoulders. And I believe the Colts are going to want to make a statement against Tennessee. Expect giant production out of Luck this weekend.
Le’Veon Bell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Bell’s back baby! And he is playing against a St. Louis team that made unknown rookie Matt Jones look like Jim Brown in his prime. I think that St. Louis is going to be a little more concerned with Pittsburgh passing game, which will leave the door open for a very fresh Bell to go off. Bell will prove in his first game this season that he is the best running back in the NFL. Rewarding everyone that drafted him in the first round, despite his two game suspension.
A.J. Green, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
The Ravens got absolutely embarrassed by the Raiders last week. And the Bengals are twice the team the Raiders are. The Ravens had trouble covering rookie receiver Amari Cooper last week, which makes me think that they are going to have a terrible time covering Green this week. Green has yet to have a big splash game this season, like he has been known to have in past seasons. And I think this is the week where Green reminds people why they drafted him in the second or third round this year. Not to mention that Dalton has been playing the best football of his career so far this season. The season is still young, and Dalton has plenty of time left to poop the bed. But for now, I feel like the smart play is to ride his hot hand and count on Green to tear it up this weekend.
Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots
Gronk is the most obvious pick for this spot, and that is for a reason. Gronk is kind of un-defendable. If you really want to stop him you can, but you are definitely leaving a few other players wide open in doing so. And Tom Brady is way too savvy to not find the open man. Gronk will get a few opportunities to make some big plays, and Brady is sure to find him in those situations. If you drafted Gronk this year you are extremely happy about, and you should be. He is head and shoulders better than everyone else at his position, and is the only player in fantasy football to have such a large gap between him and the second best at his position. I expect gargantuan stats out of this gargantuan human-being.
New York Jets – Team Defense
The Jets really might be the most underrated teams in football. And their defense is easily top five in the league right now. That D-line is insane, and the backend of Darelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie, and the unsung hero of the defense this season Buster Skrine is ludicrous. The Jets made Andrew Luck and the Colts look like the Cleveland Browns last week. So this week playing against a Philadelphia Eagles team that has been miserably poor so far this season leads me to believe this will be a giant week for the New York Jets defense. People may write it off as the Jets beating down a crappy Eagles team, but it won’t be long until everyone accepts that the New York Jets are legit, and their defense is one to fear.
