Weekly fantasy football sleepers are usually based in large part to the matchups in that particular week. Week one is a little different because I fully expect sleepers on this list to be front and center after this week. That being said here are my top 5 sleepers for week 1:
Tevin Coleman, RB Atlanta Falcons
Despite what looks to be a 50/50 situation with Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman is headed into week 1 the healthier of the two. Look for Atlanta to try and establish some consistency running the ball. Philadelphia’s run defense is nothing spectacular so Coleman should get some good looks.
Just a side note also on DFS leagues, Doug Martin, RB Tampa Bay is playing one of the worst defenses in the league so he deserves a look also.
Kyle Rudolph, TE Minnesota Vikings
In Minnesota all eyes are on #28 and deservedly so. Rudolph had a relatively quiet preseason but his targets should pick up as Week 1 arrives. Rudolph is facing a completely different group of San Francisco linebackers and could see some action in the red-zone.
Also keep an eye out for the Redskins’ Jordan Reed.
Sam Bradford, QB Philadelphia Eagles
Bradford is headed into week 1 healthy and ready to go. He also gets to face one of the worst defenses in the league. The Falcons defense will be improved but Bradford should have plenty of opportunities. Chip Kelly’s offense seems to fit Bradford to a T. He is a great value pick slated just below Jay Cutler vs. the Packers and just above back-up QB RGIII on several DFS sites.
Also look out for Carson Palmer for the Cardinals, as he’s at home versus a shaky Saints defense.
Dorial Green-Beckham WR Tennessee
Green-Beckham was a dynamic WR at Missouri before being dismissed from the team. He sat out the 2014 NCAA season and entered the 2015 NFL draft. He is one of four WR’s that are even on the Titan’s roster. He played well in the preseason action that he saw. He will have plenty of opportunities vs the Bucs.
Also see Eddie Royal WR for the Bears, who should see plenty of action with Kevin White sidelined.
Cleveland Browns DEF
The Browns are not too high at any position in Fantasy projections. Their defense could be a tough group to score on especially looking at week 1 matchups. The Jets offense almost guarantees several turnover opportunities and the Browns do have the ability defensively to take advantage of that.
Green Bay’s defense could also be a nice pick for the simple fact that they are playing Jay Cutler.
