The New York Giants finally got a win in Week 3, after beating the Washington Redskins on Thursday. It shows that their offense is clicking, and it should get some more help as they expect to get number two wide receiver Victor Cruz back in Week 4.
Cruz suffered a torn patellar tendon last year but was expected back at the start of the season. Unfortunately a calf injury has kept him out of the first three weeks of the NFL season. With the Giants having a 10-day break after their win over the Redskins, before they take on the Buffalo Bills, they hope that Cruz will be ready to play against the Bills. With the return of a healthy Cruz, the Giants could quickly become one of the top-tier offensive teams in the league.
While clearly good for New York’s offense as a whole, it’s highly debatable what Cruz’s return means for usual target hog, Odell Beckham Jr. ODB wrecked the league last year, doing most of his damage after Cruz went down with his knee injury. With Cruz back, ODB could see less double teams from opposing defenses, but now the Giants’ passing game also has another mouth to feed. ODB owners should still see plenty of top shelf production out of their stud receiver, but he could now be vulnerable to some down weeks with Cruz nearing full strength.
