It hasn’t been a pretty couple of weeks for Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles. Following their overtime win against Dallas, the Eagles dropped a game in Miami where they held a big lead early on. Sam Bradford was hurt in that game as well which forced him out this past week.
With Sam Bradford out, enter Mark Sanchez. Sanchez put up a pitiful performance en route to a 45-17 clobbering by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He threw 3 interceptions, one of which was taken for a pick 6.
After Sanchez’s horrible performance and another loss for the Eagles, the future of Chip Kelly is looking bleak. However, some remain optimistic that a Bradford return will change their fortunes. While he has dealt with his own stretches of inconsistences, it seemed like he was finally beginning to find his stride in this offense, and then he got injured, again.
Initially, it was unclear how much time Bradford would miss. However, he has now been cleared to play and has returned to practice. His status for Thursday is still up in the air. Hopefully for the Eagles he is able to suit up as he is clearly their best bet under center as Sanchez proved his mediocrity yet again.
Before the injury, Bradford was a borderline starting QB and it looked like he was getting better and better each week. His most recent setback doesn’t appear to be anything major, but I wouldn’t trust him from a fantasy or durability perspective regardless.
