Just what the Baltimore Ravens needed after their porous start, for their star tailback to get injured in their loss this past week to the Cleveland Browns. Justin Forsett suffered an ankle injury on the Ravens final drive of the 4th quarter in their overtime loss to Cleveland. Forsett would walk off the field on his own power and wouldn’t go on to play in overtime.
Luckily, it wasn’t a high ankle sprain–meaning it won’t keep him out a few weeks. Forsett didn’t appear to be in major pain, and he is likely to play this week. He will be limited in practice this week and his status is worth monitoring throughout the week.
During a rough beginning to the season, Forsett has been one of the few bright spots for the Ravens. He is coming off consecutive 100 yard games after a slow start to the 2015 season. In the past two games he has accounted for 44% of Baltimore’s total offense, per ESPN.
A possible big sleeper heading into week 6 could be the rookie running back for Baltimore, Javorious Allen. Not only is Forsett’s status on the fence for this week, but backup RB Lorenzo Taliaferro was inactive this past week against Cleveland.
Allen was drafted in the 4th round and brings tremendous upside. In a limited sample size this season, he leads all RBs on the team with 4.8 yards per carry. He also has the longest rush of anyone on the team at 44 yards–the big play ability is there. He may not get the snaps worthwhile to make him a starter this week in fantasy. However, depending on how the status for Forsett and Taliaferro develops this week, Allen could be in for a breakout game this week making him a huge sleeper in week 6.
All that being said, Forsett’s injury isn’t as bad as it could have been and there’s a good chance he plays and has his normal role. If that’s the case, Forsett is a must-start in season long fantasy leagues and is worth considering in daily fantasy football games, too.
