In what should’ve been expected league wide, the injury prone Arian Foster suffered his first injury of the 2016 season as he left week 2’s game against New England. It’s still unclear how much time Foster will miss or if he’ll miss anytime at all, but it’s still worth looking on the waiver wire for a replacement.
When one player gets injured, it’s human nature to look within the team for their replacement. Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake are the players that come to mind.
Ajayi has been quite the disappointment as he was expected to have a big role on the offense during his sophomore campaign. After missing the opening week as a healthy scratch, Ajayi was given just 5 carries and rushed for an underwhelming 14 yards while losing a fumble. Not worth a waiver claim.
As for Kenyan Drake, there is some upside there. The rookie out of Alabama was given 4 touches following Foster’s injury and even scored his first career TD. It’s unclear how the workload will be split between him and Ajayi, assuming Foster does sit out. However, Drake possesses the better overall skillset and should make more of an impact. He’s one of this week’s top waiver wire targets.
