The Green Bay Packers could be without one of their best players in week three, when they play host to the Kansas City Chiefs. Per reports, star running back Eddie Lacy is questionable to play on Monday Night Football after nursing an ankle injury all week. Lacy suffered the injury in a week two win over the Seattle Seahawks, and never returned to the game.

Lacy is said to have a solid week where he made progress with treatment on his ankle. The extra day of rest should give him a solid chance to return at close to 100%, although it sounds like backup running back James Starks is probably in for a bigger role, regardless of Lacy’s status. With Kansas City boasting a strong run defense, it’s possible Aaron Rodgers and co. have to take it to the air a little more than they’d like to in week three.

Fantasy Insight

There are two key concerns here for fantasy football owners: Lacy could be a total inactive or he could be very limited. In season long leagues, you’ll probably have to bite the bullet and roll with Lacy, either way. Hopefully you have Starks on your bench in case he’s a last second sit call, while an active Lacy is a Lacy you need to keep in your lineup. While you have a slight obligation to using Lacy if you spent a first round pick on him, that’s nowhere near the case in daily fantasy leagues. This isn’t the greatest matchup in the world and at less than 100% or possibly even out, he’s simply not worth the risk. He could make for an interesting contrarian play, but there are way too many good running backs around that price range. Fade in DFS and start if active.
