Houston Texans star running back Arian Foster is nearing a return to the field and is practicing, but per head coach Bill O’Brien, he won’t make his 2015 debut in week three. Houston badly needs Foster to balance out a lethargic offense, but the Texans have maintained over the past few weeks that they won’t rush Foster back until he’s completely 100% healthy.

While Foster won’t suit up in week three, all signs to this point have been encouraging and could lead to a week four return. Chris Polk dominated carries in week two and could once again be the Texans’ go-to option in the running game when they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week three, while Alfred Blue should also factor into the rushing workload.

Fantasy Insight

Fantasy football owners that drafted Foster are growing impatient, but none of this is news. You drafted this guy in the 5th round or later as a risky value pick and it still should pay off. Foster could be back in week four or five still, and that would still beat his initial prognosis. It’s exciting to get closer to one of the league’s top talents getting back on the field, but until he does the Texans are going to struggle to produce consistent offense. DeAndre Hopkins remains a solid play, but he’s the only Texans player you should be using, whether it be daily fantasy football leagues or your season long squad. If you have to pick one of Houston’s running backs, Polk looks to have the minor edge at the moment, but that’s really a situation best left alone.
