After playing through a leg injury during the first week of the NFL season, Chicago Bears star wide receiver Alshon Jeffery will finally get some rest. Per reports, Jeffery has been dealing with calf and hamstring issues and will sit out his week two matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.

It’s a big blow to the Chicago offense, which was already facing an uphill battle against a tough Arizona defense. Jay Cutler will be without his top weapon in the passing game, which could lead to more dump-offs to running back Matt Forte. Tight end Martellus Bennett enters the week as Chicago’s top red-zone threat, while both Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson could also see bigger roles with Jeffery sidelined.

Fantasy Insight

Jeffery is a huge loss for this offense, as he was able to secure five catches for nearly 80 yards in week one, despite not being 100%. Fantasy owners get the news early, however, so they should be able to make up for his loss. The news is nice in daily fantasy football leagues, as Jeffery was a reach to pay up for at less than 100% anyways. Bennett and Royal now look like quality cheap plays that could pay off in DFS leagues in week two.
