T.Y. Hilton left Sunday’s Colts vs. Jaguars game in the second quarter after suffering an ankle injury. Prior to the injury, Andrew Luck and Hilton were tearing up the last ranked Jaguars pass defense. Hilton had caught 5 balls on 6 targets for 80 yards, and keep in mind it was only the second quarter. While I wouldn’t get too excited about Hilton’s performance because of the weak matchup, it was somewhat encouraging to Hilton owners to see the connection between the QB and 24 year old receiver.
It is a bit concerning for Hilton owners because he was already dealing with a groin injury earlier this season and now this ankle issue arises. Hilton never returned to the game after exiting, but Head Coach Chuck Pagano stated post-game that he doesn’t believe the injury to be “too severe”. ESPN’s lead NFL man Adam Schefter appeared on NFL Insiders on Monday saying that the general feeling around the Colts camp is that Hilton should ready to go for the Colts Week 4 game against the Tennessee Titans.
Hilton is yet to find the endzone this season, and through three games has 16 catches for 186 yards. Banged up and facing the 2nd best pass defense in the NFL next week, Hilton should be looked at as WR3.
