What a debacle the Denver Broncos offense has been as a whole this season, especially in the backfield. Running back C.J. Anderson was expected to be a top 10 rusher this fantasy football season, but he isn’t even on the same planet with those expectations. Through five weeks he is just the 56th ranked running back in fantasy football.

It seems like Anderson would be an easy sell this week, right? After drafting him in the 1st or 2nd round, you gave him time to bounce back and prove himself worthy, but it just hasn’t happened. Some owners have even went as far as dropping their ‘prized’ draft choice straight up–what a waste. Although, you can’t blame them. His 2.6 yards per carry and inability to break even 50 yards so far is quite depressing.

This is the week, Anderson owners. Give your boy one last shot. With Ronnie Hillman banged up, their backfield turns into a one man job, which will give Anderson around 15 carries or so. Anderson has a favorable matchup this week as well against Cleveland. The Browns have allowed the 4th most fantasy points to opposing RBs, including the most all-purpose yards, which bodes well for Anderson, as he is a good receiver out of the backfield. In addition, they have given up over 150 rushing yards in 3 games so far this season.

It feels weird saying this, but I’m buying C.J. Anderson in week six. I can understand the hesitancy you may have inserting him back into your starting lineup, but with everything considered, it makes sense. He knows he’s under enormous pressure, so he’s going to have to break out this week in a big way, which he proved last year he is capable of doing. Peyton Manning has proven he isn’t the same passer, so Denver may have to lean on a backfield that could be without Hillman. It took him a while to get going last season as well, he didn’t see his first 100+ all purpose yard game until week 9.

If Anderson fails to deliver this week, you might as well look to unload him–but give him one more chance, as it could pay off in a big way.
