For those fantasy owners who took a risk on Eric Decker playing in week three, luck was on their side Monday night. Or so they thought. After hauling in a reception for 19 yards, Decker decided to take himself out of the game after experiencing some tightness in his hamstring. He spent the rest of the game from the sidelines, watching the Bears pull out a 27-19 victory.
The good news for Eric Decker owners is that he said it was not a setback, rather him playing the situation cautiously. “It was to the point where it wasn’t loosening up, and instead of doing something stupid and really hurting something down the road I decided to pull myself and give myself a chance,” he said.
With that being said, Decker will need to rest up this week as he is shaping up to be questionable for the Jets Week 4 matchup against the Detroit Lions. If he can’t suit up versus Detroit, Jeremy Kerley is the under-the-radar pickup. He will likely lead the team in targets as he did in the MNF game and is a solid PPR option.
At this point, if Decker did not re-aggravate his injury like he says, I would expect him to be ready for next week, but can only be seen as a WR3 with upside versus a Lions defense ranked 3rd in the league in terms of opponents passing yards.
