DeSean Jackson, always known as the big-play receiver, burst onto the scene last year in what most would consider his breakout campaign. He piled up an impressive stat line consisting of 82 receptions for 1,332 yards while getting into paydirt 9 times. Remind you, he did this with the Philadelphia Eagles. As a bumpy offseason between Jackson and the Eagles unfolded, they decided their best course of action was to release the world-class speedster. To the pleasant surprise of Redskins fans, Jackson signed with Washington, remaining in the NFC East.
It was only a matter of time before DeSean’s former and present team battled it out on the gridiron, and that time is this Sunday. Unfortunately for Jackson, he left week 2’s game against the Jaguars with a sprained AC joint and never returned. It was reported that he woke up sore on Monday and has been day-to-day with hopes of returning to prove his former team wrong. Both now-starting QB Kirk Cousins and Jackson himself expect U California product to suit up. “I don’t plan on missing this game,” Jackson said, per the Washington Post. Despite this optimism, Jackson is yet to step on the practice field this week. So, I give it an 80% chance he plays, BUT, as previously mentioned he is day-to-day and you must keep an eye on DeSean’s status as we move closer to Sunday in order to get a more accurate reading.
