The reigning fantasy football MVP suffered a wrist injury in the 3rd quarter of Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. The injury occurred after Johnson caught a pass in his chest, and was then abruptly hit hard by the defender.

More than likely Johnson was the #1 pick in your fantasy league, so this injury of course carries much larger implications than injuries. For what it’s worth, durability has never been a concern for Johnson as he started all 16 games for the Cardinals last season.

The injury is not expected to be serious, but the Cardinals may keep Johnson sidelined for the rest of the game as a precaution.

Fantasy Impact

It doesn’t appear that this wrist injury will force Johnson to miss any games. However, backup Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington are worth monitoring on the waiver wire, just in case Johnson isn’t a go for next week.

Williams came on with Johnson’s departure and rushed the ball 5 times for 10 measly yards, although he did score a TD.

UPDATE: X-rays came back negative on Johnson’s wrist and he will undergo an MRI on Monday. While the x-rays came back negative, the durations of time he may miss have been tossed around; “a few weeks” or “half the season or more“.
