Despite the Arizona Cardinals scoring only 18 points in their season opener against the San Diego Chargers, Carson Palmer finished as the number four fantasy football quarterback throwing for 304 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Owners who were high on the Arizona quarterback and waited to draft him were pleasantly surprised to see such a break out game from the veteran.
Unfortunately, Palmer took a shot during the game that concluded in some nerve damage in his shoulder, leading him to miss Sunday’s week two matchup with the New York Giants. This injury has turned out to be quite a tricky one in that neither Palmer nor head coach Bruce Arians could put a timetable on the return.
“Anytime you’re dealing with nerves, you’re concerned,” Arians said, before adding it’s “just a bruised nerve that’s being ornery.”
If he is your quarterback you will definitely need to monitor him throughout the week. When Palmer is healthy he should put up solid high end QB2 due to the immense talent that surrounds him. My best advice would be to hit the waiver wire and pick up a guy like Kirk Cousins in case Palmer is a no go for next Sunday.
