Recent development has taken place today. In a somewhat surprising move, TE Dwayne Allen of the Colts is going to the Patriots (yes, the Patriots) for a 4th round pick. Now this is somewhat shocking because we expected Martellus Bennett to leave NE, as he was asking too much. However, the Colts trading Dwayne Allen is what is shocking.

Why this works for NE: Bringing in Allen is going to work well in their scheme. Obviously, Gronk is injury prone, but when he plays, he is a beast. In today’s game, teams need two TEs to succeed. Plus, you know how the Pats love to run their 2-TE sets. Moving from Bennett to Allen is a strong move, and Bill and his offensive coaches can make anyone a great player. NE clearly got the best of the trade.

Why this works for IND: The Colts are rebuilding. At this point, there is no other way of putting it. The Colts missed the playoffs last season in a division that they have previously dominated for years. They need new blood. Luck, Hilton, and Dorsett are great together, and they have another TE in Jack Doyle. He is a developable player who can emerge among the best at the position.
