The ultra productive receiver enjoyed a tremendous career with Colorado in the Big 12. The most decorated WR in program history, Spruce left the school holding 41 team records. His NFL projection has him as a slot receiver who can also contribute returning kicks. He doesn’t have much of an upside, but you know what you’re getting with Spruce. A reliable, consistent slot receiver. He could flourish in a system like New England. Where will he land on draft day?

Name: Nelson Spruce
College: Colorado
Size: 6’1”/210
Class: Senior (RS)
Projection: 6th-7th Round
Comparison: Ty Montgomery

Strengths: Proportioned build with solidly built lower body. Decent speed and hips with the ability to shift and move laterally. Shifty after the catch with the ability to avoid contact. Very reliable hands. Team captain. Steady, strong production and has produced against good competition.

Weaknesses: Lacks explosive speed and hips. Shifty but is not overly productive after the catch and gets swallowed quickly. Not a a threat to leap up and high-point the ball in a crowd. Not a big target. An older prospect who lacks a high ceiling.

Outlook: A highly productive receiver who lacks the skills needed to be able to match that productively at the next level. Could warrant interest at the end of the draft and be a reliable reserve slot receiver.
