The 4th of July is always a key date. For one, it celebrates our nation’s independence. It also sets off that inner fantasy football clock, telling us that we’re only a month or so away from our league’s draft.
We’ve gotten more and more affiliated with the DFS scene in the past few years, but the heart and soul of fantasy football remains the season-long league. That means we still need to soak up all the knowledge we can and pay close attention to injuries, team roles, rising sleepers and team systems. We need to track ADP, hunt values and figure out which big name players we think just might end up being busts.
The writing is on the wall for a lot of guys, regardless of which way you seen things leaning. Setting up preliminary rankings is a good way to check your gut feel, too, and as the summer trickles on, we can re-hash, adjust and ultimately finalize our stance.
That’s what my first take over at FantasyPros is doing. We’re just kicking the tires here. The noise of the NFL season will grow louder and annoying things like signings, releases and injuries will cloud our judgment. In some spots, it will make things as clear as day.
For now, we can only go with what we know, though, so let’s get the ball rolling with our early July fantasy football rankings for the 2016 season:
